QUESTIONS FOR LABOUR ON SOUTH LANARKSHIRE REVELATIONS

QUESTIONS FOR LABOUR ON SOUTH LANARKSHIRE REVELATIONS

LABOUR HAS ‘LOST ITS WAY’ IN SCOTLAND

Following the Reporting Scotland story this evening on an East Kilbride Labour Councillor's behaviour on planning applications, the SNP has called for full transparency from South Lanarkshire Council.

Councillor Jim Docherty is a long standing member of the Planning Committee who has never declared his close friendship with a local property developer and Labour donor whose planning applications have come before the committee.

Commenting, Central Scotland MSP Linda Fabiani said:

"Unfortunately these sort of stories are what we have came to expect from the Labour party in Scotland who arrogantly believe they can take the voters for fools.

“It was just a few short months ago that the scandal involving Labour politicians in charge of Strathclyde Public Transport came to light and it certainly appears that that was just the tip of iceberg in Scotland.

“The Labour Party in East Kilbride certainly has questions to answer - questions many of us have been posing for some time.

“What we need to see now is full transparency and openness from South Lanarkshire Council, Councillor Docherty, and the Labour Party. The people of East Kilbride deserve better than this.

“The Labour party in Scotland has clearly lost its way, regularly caught up in scandals with public money and abuse of political power. East Kilbride residents are entitled to the truth.”
