TORIES ADMIT THEY ARE TOXIC IN SCOTLAND

TORIES ADMIT THEY ARE TOXIC IN SCOTLAND

Commenting on a report in the Sunday Herald about a leaked Scottish Tory party memo where their deputy leader admitted his party is “toxic” Glasgow SNP MSP Bill Kidd said:

“Unusually I find myself agreeing with Murdo Fraser - his party is a toxic brand in Scotland. The fact is that the Scottish Tories have not moved on from the Thatcher years. “This memo shows how out of touch the Tories are with Scotland. They can't be trusted and have learnt nothing.

“It only goes to show that leopards don’t change their spots, and that this is still the same old anti-Scottish Tories.

“However it should also be borne in mind that the outcome of the UK election was not an inevitable Tory government. There was a progressive, anti-Tory alternative on offer but Labour MPs from Scotland preferred the comfort of the back benches.

“Yet Labour let the people of Scotland down. They promised to protect Scotland from the Tories - instead they undermined Gordon Brown and opened the door to a toxic Tory government in Scotland.”
