FOUR WAY LEAD FOR SNP OVER SCOTTISH LABOUR PARTY.

FOUR WAY LEAD FOR SNP OVER SCOTTISH LABOUR PARTY.

"QUADRUPLE WHAMMY" HITS LABOUR SUPPORT,

VOTERS CONTINUE TO BACK SNP SUCCESS,

An analysis of results from the European election, local authority
by-elections, Holyrood opinion polls and Westminster opinion polls
throughout June shows the SNP leading Labour across the board with
significant swings from Labour to the SNP in all four analyses.

The results of the four analyses show the SNP;

- led Labour at the European elections by 8% (7.5% swing from Labour to
SNP since 2004)
- had a 5% lead from Labour across June’s local authority by-elections
(7.3% swing from Labour to SNP from 2007)
- lead Holyrood opinion polls by 10% from Labour (4.5% swing from Labour
to SNP from 2007)
- and lead Westminster opinion polls by 3% from Labour (12.5% swing from
Labour to SNP from 2005)

SNP Business Convener Angus Roberston MP said;

“These results are a quadruple whammy for the SNP with a four way lead
over Labour - in Europe, at local level, in Holyrood and at Westminster.

“In the last month the SNP have won the support of voters in the European
elections and in by-elections across the country with a swing to the SNP
in every single election and we have maintained a lead in the opinion
polls for both Holyrood and Westminster.

“As we pass the midterm point of the first ever SNP Government the
continued and increasing support of the Scottish people shows the SNP is
delivering what Scotland needs while the UK Labour Government and the
Scottish Labour party simply go into reverse.

“The SNP Government’s message of confidence in Scotland and in the people
of Scotland is winning support and bringing people together as we show
we’ve got what it takes to get through difficult economic times.

“In contrast, Labour has failed to take responsibility for the recession
and refuse to face up to the reality of the £500 million of cuts they are
forcing on Scotland’s public services.

"The reality is that people like what they get from the SNP – in local
communities and across Scotland. The SNP’s investment in Scotland’s
economy, in our skills sector and our commitment to fight for Scotland’s
jobs in these tough times is what people want, and the ever growing levels
of support both locally and nationally reflect the SNP’s strong record of
delivery.

“Opinion polls are no substitute for winning the support of voters in real
elections and that is what the SNP will continue to work hard to achieve.”
