MSP WELCOMES HIE CHIEF EXEC'S RESIGNATION.

MSP WELCOMES HIE CHIEF EXEC'S RESIGNATION.

Commenting on the resignation of Highlands and Islands Enterprise Chief Executive Willie Roe from consultancy firm Rocket Science after concerns were raised over potential conflict of interest and the introduction of new rules covering the allocation and authorisation of contracts SNP MSP for the Highlands and Islands and Deputy Convener of the Scottish Parliament's Enterprise Committee Rob Gibson said;

"This is a welcome decision, but HIE should not have been in this position in the first place.

"It was high time that HIE handling of contracts was closely scrutinised.

"Where senior members of the board and staff are concerned the new rules are vital. They should have been in place and working years ago.

"Willie Roe's resignation from Rocket Science should have been a general rule applied to all enterprise network personnel since the system was constructed under the Tories in the 1990s."
