FINANCE REPORT EXPOSES KERR’S SPENDING GAFFE
SNP MSP and Finance Committee member Linda Fabiani highlighted Labour’s inept approach to Scotland’s finances today as a report from the Finance Committee confirmed the Scottish Government will face real terms spending cuts next year.
The Committee report acknowledges a 1% real terms cut in the money available to Scotland next year and says it is currently difficult to know what the full impact of the recession on Scotland’s budget will be;
Ms Fabiani said
“In attacking the SNP Scottish Government’s early actions to support the Scottish economy through recession by bringing forward investment in jobs, skills and training Labour have finally accepted that the actions of their Government in London will cut Scotland’s budget at a time when we should be doing everything possible to support recovery.
“Andy Kerr has blown apart his own argument.
“The SNP Government brought forward spending to fight recession, Labour is now imposing cuts at precisely the wrong time.
“Labour has learnt absolutely nothing from their experience at the polls this week. The SNP Government is working hard to support Scots through the recession, in contrast Labour are imposing cuts that this cross party committee recognises will force difficult spending decisions on Scotland during the recession."
