FIRST MINISTER: SNP VOTE WILL DELIVER SCOTTISH SUCCESS.

FIRST MINISTER: SNP VOTE WILL DELIVER SCOTTISH SUCCESS.

EUROPEAN ELECTIONS: A TALE OF TWO GOVERNMENTS

A STRONG SCOTTISH VOICE IN EUROPE

SNP Leader and First Minister Alex Salmond MSP today (Tuesday) urged
voters to use their opportunity in Thursday’s European elections to give
Scotland a strong voice in Europe and to force the UK Government to act on
key Scottish demands.

Speaking as he kicked off the final 48 hours of campaigning in Dundee, Mr
Salmond said that the choice was clear: voters could endorse a discredited
Labour party endangering Scotland’s recovery with cuts during the
recession or back the SNP Scottish Government with it’s commitment to
investing in Scotland’s jobs and communities.

First Minister Alex Salmond said:

“While the SNP in Government and in Europe is focused on protecting
Scotland’s jobs and investing £25m of European funding to support 75,000
training places, the UK Labour Government is threatening this recovery
with £500m cuts endangering 9000 jobs.

“The SNP Scottish Government is committed to putting Scotland at the
forefront of Europe’s renewables revolution and has approved 22 major
renewables projects in two years creating green jobs across Scotland - in
contrast the UK Government £150m of Scotland’s money, which could be
invested in this industry of the future, locked away in a Treasury bank
account.

“And while the Scottish Parliament has led the way with openness and
transparency over expenses Westminster is mired in shenanigans which have
at their root an obsession with secrecy.

“The Westminster Government is crumbling, its authority has drained away,
and SNP success on Thursday will force the UK Government to act on key
Scottish demands - such as unlocking the £150m Fossil Fuel Levy – as well
as forcing the pace on an early General Election, and delivering a strong
Scottish voice in Europe.

“Together, SNP MEPs and the Scottish Government have what it takes. A vote
for the SNP at these elections is a vote for Scotland's economic
recovery.”
