LATEST REVELATION CONFIRMS “PRE-ELECTION” REPORT
Hitting out at reports that the Chancellor and the Prime Minister were in disagreement about what should be contained in the Pre-Budget Report, SNP MP and Treasury spokesperson, Stewart Hosie said:
“This latest leak confirms Chancellor didn’t deliver a Pre-Budget Report, he delivered a Pre-Election Report at the behest of the man who ruined the economy.
“We needed a recession busting plan to protect jobs, encourage growth and safeguard front line services – instead, we got a hammer blow to the Scottish recovery as the UK Government failed to accelerate capital spend.
“The pain for the people of Scotland is made all the keener as it emerges Scotland’s budget will fall by over £800 million next year, while revenues from our natural resources keep the UK economy afloat.”
1. The Pre-Budget report revises expected North Sea oil and gas revenues up by £10 billion between 2009/10 and 2014/15 to £50 billion over the next six years.
2. £48.8 billion was received in revenues over the previous six years from North Sea Oil and Gas
3. Independent report from the Scottish Parliament Information Centre confirms a £814 million reduction in Scotland’s budget for 2010-11, on the budget expected in 2009-10.
