SHOOGLY PEG MUNDELL SIDELINED AGAIN

SHOOGLY PEG MUNDELL SIDELINED AGAIN

Seizing on Tory leader David Cameron’s refusal to say whether the Conservative’s sole Scottish MP, David Mundell would continue his frontbench role in any future Tory government, SNP Chief Whip Stewart Hosie said the Shadow Scotland Secretary’s jacket was on a “shoogly peg”.

Last weekend the Tories announced the appointment of David McLetchie MSP as Conservative General Election campaign manager, in preference to Mr Mundell.

Mr Hosie said:

“This is a seriously embarrassing snub for David Mundell who has been sidelined yet again by the Tory high command in London. Since his infamous memo accusing his Scottish Parliamentary group of having a "lack of thinkers" his stock has declined further.

“Last week he was overlooked for his party's top Scottish election post in favour of an MSP, and this week his jacket is even more on a shoogly peg. That and David Cameron’s unconvincing comments show all is not cosy with the Scottish Tories.

“While the Scottish Tories fight each other, it is the SNP which will be fighting for Scotland.”
