SNP BACK AIRLINE STAFF AS LABOUR LET THEM DOWN
The SNP Scottish Government has given it's support to workers affected by the collapse of Flyglobespan as the opposition parties let them down.
SNP Lothians MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville has welcomed the support offered last night by the Scottish Government to the Edinburgh based airline workers.
"The Scottish Government made clear last night that employees of flyglobespan will get all the help they need, through the PACE scheme if administrators are unable to secure their jobs for the future.
"Yesterday's announcement will have been a huge shock to the workers as well as to those looking forward to a Christmas holiday or reuniting with family and friends and our thoughts are with all those affected.
“It is ridiculous that when 800 people are losing their jobs a week before Christmas and thousands of Scots are stranded overseas in search of a flight home after the collapse of flyglobespan that Labour fail to raise the issue with the First Minister.
“Iain Gray showed why he is not fit to lead Labour, never mind be First Minister with his failing of the people of Scotland today.
“The SNP's thoughts are with those who now face losing their jobs and with those who have lost holidays and family visits they have long looked forward to.
“Had Flyglobespan been raised at First Ministers Questions the First Minister could have made clear the support of the Scottish Government and Parliament for those affected, the sympathies we all have for those who face losing their jobs.
“The PACE scheme will be put in place and people will be supported by the SNP Government if that is needed – a Government that cares for the people of this country, not abandons them as Labour would clearly do.”
