MARWICK NOMINATES BROWN FOR FREEDOM OF FIFE

MARWICK NOMINATES BROWN FOR FREEDOM OF FIFE

Tricia Marwick MSP has called for Fife Council to confer the Freedom of Fife on Gordon Brown.

The SNP member of the Scottish Parliament for Central Fife Constituency said:

" Gordon Brown has given many years of outstanding public service to the people of Fife and to the whole of the UK. As the only Fifer to be Prime Minister he has brought honour and distinction to the whole Kingdom and deserves the Freedom Of Fife.

" I may have political differences with Gordon Brown but I have never doubted his deep commitment to the people of Fife. He is first and foremost a Fifer. He is one of our own and I am calling on all the councillors in Fife Council to unanimously support this award."

Mrs Marwick has written to the leader and Provost of Fife Council nominating Mr Brown and asking all Fife Councillors to support the move.

If Mr Brown is awarded the Freedom of Fife he will be only the third ever recipient, the other two being Jimmy Shand and the Black Watch.
