SNP SLAM PLANS TO CREATE 100s OF NEW LORDS

SNP SLAM PLANS TO CREATE 100s OF NEW LORDS

Commenting on the report in The Times today which reveals that the Tory-LibDem coalition plan to create hundreds of new peers for the House of Lords SNP MP, Angus MacNeil, said:

"So much for change and a fresh start. This is just shows how the Tory coalition is the same old politics continuing.

"The public will not understand why money is being wasted to pay for hundreds of partisan peers whilst massive cuts are being planned in the public sector. It smacks of political self-interest.

"Instead of this wasteful plan they should have abolished the House of Lords thus saving the public money and showing a commitment to a new way of doing politics."
