SNP BEST PLACED TO CAPITALISE ON LABOUR MELTDOWN

SNP BEST PLACED TO CAPITALISE ON LABOUR MELTDOWN

POLLS SHOW ALL TO PLAY FOR AS CAMPAIGN ENTERS HOME STRAIGHT

Commenting on opinion polls published this weekend which, taken
together, show the SNP in a clear second place in the election race in
Scotland, the party's Westminster leader Angus Robertson said that
they showed there was all to play for as the campaign entered its last
few days.

The polls - a TNS-BMRB survey and a YouGov poll - have a combined
sample size of more 2,500 and overall they show the SNP has regained
second place from the Lib Dems.

Mr Robertson said: "Labour's campaign is disintegrating and the Lib
Dem surge has stalled in Scotland despite the boost they got from the
TV leaders' debates. These polls show the SNP is best placed to take
advantage of Labour's collapse, with the Liberals going into reverse
and the Tories nowhere.

"The SNP have been shut out of the air war but we are stepping up our
campaign on the ground, and over the next few days we will take our
message that only SNP local and national champions can protect
Scotland from savage London cuts to people right across the country."
