ABOUT THE SNP - A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY.

ABOUT THE SNP.
**************** The Scottish National Party, committed to restoring Scottish independence, was founded on 7 April 1934. Gaining its first parliamentary seat in 1945, the SNP has now been the driving force for constitutional change in Scotland for 75 years. Currently the largest party in the Scottish Parliament, SNP leader Alex Salmond heads a popular minority administration Scottish Government. The Party also holds two of seven Scottish seats in the European Parliament, and seven of 59 Scottish seats in the UK Parliament. The SNP is the largest party in local government and SNP councillors lead the administration of eight of the 32 Scottish councils and share coalition administrations in five more. The Party is funded from voluntary contributions, with the active support of a core network of some 15,000 members, and supported by many others.
