COMMENTS ON APPALLING UNEMPLOYMENT NUMBERS AND STATS.

BUDGET CUTS PUT MORE JOBS IN JEOPARDY.

Commenting on confirmation of the largest quarterly increase in unemployment figures today, SNP Work and Pensions spokesperson, John Mason MP, has called on the Chancellor to scrap anticipated spending cuts within his Budget.

Glasgow East MP, Mr Mason, said:

“These appalling figures reveal that 2,000 people are losing their jobs every single day, and no amount of Downing Street spin can hide that.

“On the very day that these figures are confirmed, it is unfathomable that the Chancellor announces a cuts Budget that will put thousands more jobs in jeopardy.

“The Scottish Government have put an economic recovery plan in place which will protect and create jobs – that is the approach that Westminster should be taking too.

“Scotland has what it takes to emerge from this recession stronger but this effort must not be undermined by Labour recklessness.”

What magic trick will PM Gordon Brown pull out of his magic hat this time we wonder?
