MCLINTOCK CASE RAISED WITH FOREIGN OFFICE.

MCLINTOCK CASE RAISED WITH FOREIGN OFFICE.

Angus MP Mike Weir has today (Tuesday) taken up with the Foreign Office the case of James McLintock who is reported to have been arrested in Pakistan – and is urging Ministers to take urgent steps to ascertain from the government of Pakistan the whereabouts of Mr McLintock and what, if any, charges he is facing.

Earlier today Mr Weir met with Mr McLintock’s mother. After the meeting he said:

“The McLintock family are understandably concerned about what has happened to their son in Pakistan. James McLintock is a UK citizen and is entitled to the help of the UK government and High Commission.

“At present there is no concrete information as to where he is being held or on what charges he is being held. I understand that his wife has even been unable to get any reliable information from the authorities in Pakistan and I have urged the Foreign Office to take urgent steps to clarify the situation.
Mr Weir also issued a brief statement on behalf of the McLintock family:

“We desperately want to know what is happening to James and have asked Mr Weir to help to obtain information through the Foreign Office. We do not wish to make any statements to the media and would ask that all media outlets respect that wish.”
