CAMPBELL SPINS HIMSELF IN CIRCLES OVER IRAQ

LIES AND DECIET CONTINUE YEARS AFTER INVASION

Alastair Campbell, the former Prime Minister Tony Blair’s chief Spin Doctor, has attempted to clarify his comments made last week when giving evidence to the Chilcot Inquiry, but has failed spectacularly.

The inquiry has seen a number of former Labour Cabinet Members give evidence, many of it damaging to Blair and Brown. Tony Blair is to give evidence in the next few weeks, but there are growing calls for the Gordon Brown, the man who bankrolled the illegal invasion, to also face the inquiry before the General Election.

Commenting, Angus Robertson MP said:

“It seems that Alasdair Campbell is now just spinning himself in circles. His ‘attempt’ to clarify his comments has failed spectacularly.

“The Iraq war has been the single biggest foreign policy disaster in modern times. The UK was led to war on a lie about weapons of mass destruction and hundreds of our brave troops and countless civilians have paid the ultimate price for this deception. The Chilcot enquiry must dig deep and uncover those who hold responsibility.”
