REAL ELECTION FIGHT IS FOR SCOTLAND
REAL ELECTION FIGHT IS FOR SCOTLAND
MAKE SCOTLAND’S VOICE HEARD IN 2010
The real fight in the 2010 election is for Scotland said SNP MP and
Westminster Campaign Co-ordinator Stewart Hosie as Labour and the Tories
continued to ignore Scottish issues in their phoney war.
Dundee East MP Stewart Hosie said:
“The real fight in 2010 is for Scotland, to put Scottish issues at the
heart of Westminster with SNP MPs fighting for Scotland’s jobs, Scotland’s
economy and standing up for Scottish interests.
“The battle between Labour and the Tories, the tweedledum and tweedledee
of politics is a phoney war. The Tories will remain in the doldrums in
Scottish politics as they continue to oppose the aspirations of the people
of Scotland and Labour has long since let Scotland down – as their refusal
this weekend to transfer powers to save lives before the election
confirms.
“On day one of the 2010 campaign we are already seeing Labour and the
Tories cutting Scotland out telling the Scottish people who to vote for
instead of debating Scottish issues.
"The SNP has a strong track record of governing for the people, and
speaking up for the people and that is why we continue to win support
across Scotland.
“A strong SNP Scottish voice in Westminster after the next general
election will secure that transfer of powers as we head toward a
referendum on independence, will force the UK Government to release
Scotland’s £176 million fossil fuel levy and show Labour and the Tories
that instead of cutting public services they should start cutting the debt
by scrapping the unwanted and unnecessary Trident nuclear missile system.
"Whoever wins the phoney war at Westminster, only the SNP will give
Scotland the stronger, louder voice we will all need in the years ahead.”
