PRIVATE POSTAL COMPANY HIRED BY SCOTTISH LABOUR PARTY.

PRIVATE POSTAL COMPANY HIRED BY SCOTTISH LABOUR PARTY.

SCOTTISH LABOUR AHEAD ON PETER MANDELSON ON PRIVATISING POST

SNP Business and Enterprise spokesperson, Mike Weir MP, has expressed dismay at Scottish Labour’s use of a private postal company to deliver party material – at a time when Royal Mail is threatened with privatisation by Labour Business Secretary Lord Mandelson.

Mr Weir said:

"We all knew Lord Mandelson was dead set on privatising Royal Mail but it appears Scottish Labour are already streets ahead of him.

”Scottish Labour’s use of a private delivery firm is a slap in the face to Royal Mail and thousands of postal workers. It also exposes the utter hypocrisy of those Labour MPs who are publicly attacking plans to privatise Royal Mail, but at the same time are quite happy to use private contractors.

"The future of Royal Mail deliveries is of huge concern to communities throughout Scotland who rightly fear for the future of the universal service obligation if the company is privatised.

”To now find that the Labour party who are pushing this ridiculous policy are already utilising private companies must give huge cause for concern."
