HOUSING SUPPORT WILL HELP SCOTS THROUGH RECESSION.
SNP MSP Bob Doris has welcomed the opening of the £35 million Home Owners Support fund to help homeowners who may face financial difficulty during Labour’s recession.
The fund offers those faced with repossession the opportunity to convert their mortgage to a shared equity deal where the Scottish Government will own part of the property – or to go from mortgage to rent with a social landlord such as a housing association taking over the property while the tenant can stay in the home.
Glasgow MSP Bob Doris said;
“Many people will be worrying about their finances and the ability to pay their mortgage.
“Too often people are tempted into taking dodgy loans or signing up for unregulated private mortgage to rent deals that can leave them homeless.
“The start today of these two support schemes with £35 million of funding from the Scottish Government offers real help and genuine support to people who may be facing the loss of their home.
"Anyone who thinks they may be at risk of losing their home should get down to their local CAB, money advice centre or call one of the help lines and find out how they can access this vital help.
“The Home Owners Support Fund is one example of the support the SNP is giving to those struggling through this recession.”
