SNP AHEAD OF LABOUR FOR A UK GENERAL ELECTION IN MONTH OF POLLS.

SNP AHEAD OF LABOUR FOR A UK GENERAL ELECTION IN MONTH OF POLLS.
15 POINTS UP ON LAST ELECTION, LABOUR 10 POINTS DOWN DUNDEE WIN SHOWS LABOUR’S CONFERENCE FLOPS An analysis of Westminster voting samples over the last month shows the SNP ahead of Labour as Labour's vote crashes in Scotland in the face of Gordon Brown's recession. The analysis of all poll samples from the 6th of February to the 8th of March shows both the SNP on 33% to Labour’s 30%. A 15% increase for the SNP since 2005 with Labour slumping by 10%. Commenting on the analysis SNP Business Convener and Westminster Leader, Angus Robertson MP said: "These figures are excellent for the SNP and disastrous for Labour. They reflect our fantastic victory in Dundee this week where the SNP sensationally gained a seat from Labour. "Compared to the last General Election, SNP support has soared by 15 points, while Labour have slumped 10 points. "It is equally embarrassing that on the weekend of the LibDems' Scottish conference that the poll figures show them languishing in fourth place - eight points down on the last election. "These figures show that only the SNP can beat Labour across Scotland at the next elections for Westminster - that elections in Scotland are a two horse race between the SNP and Labour. "These figures reflect the fact that the SNP came ahead of Labour for the first time in its history in a Westminster poll of polls in 2008. "It must be painfully disappointing for Labour that they couldn't get a bounce from Iain Gray's first conference. Despite holding their gathering in Dundee they struggled to hold on to their vote in the Maryfield by-election. "As Labour threaten Scotland's public services and economy with £1 billion of cuts, more and more people see the SNP as the only credible alternative in Scotland to tackle Downing Street's downturn. "It is the SNP in Government in Scotland which people trust to do everything we can within our responsibilities to help families and business in these troubled economic times. "We've put more money back in people's pockets with a council tax freeze and lower prescription charges; and we've put more money back into high street businesses with our small business bonus. "Labour's age of irresponsibility is over and it is the SNP which is offering the people of Scotland a better future with an age of responsibility and responsible government."
