NO PLAN OR POLICY BUT LIBERAL LEADER RECOGNISES NEED FOR FINANCIAL POWERS.

NO PLAN OR POLICY BUT LIBERAL LEADER RECOGNISES NEED FOR FINANCIAL POWERS.
REFERENDUM TWISTS CONTRADICTED BY CALMAN COMMITMENT Commenting on the party conference speech by Tavish Scott today (Sunday), SNP Home Affairs spokesperson, Pete Wishart MP, welcomed the Liberal leaders recognition that Scotland needs economic and financial powers to tackle the recession. Mr Wishart said: “Tavish Scott’s speech was notable for its lack of policy and suggests that he has no plan, but he is absolutely right that Scotland needs economic and financial powers to tackle the recession. “That recognition makes it all the more bizarre why Tavish Scott is in such a twist over the issue of a referendum. Tavish’s constitutional contortions on the issue of a referendum are contradicted by his references to Calman. “The economic downturn demonstrates the need for Scotland to have the economic muscle and financial powers to combat recession. The need for Scotland to have the powers of independence are even more acute now. “That is a case we are very confident to take to the people – while the London parties are running away from the verdict of the people. “More and more people in Scotland believe that we need the full responsibilities of independence so that we have the powers we need to build a prosperous economy and fair society.”
