PARLIAMENT CHIEF PREDICTS 15% BUDGET CUTS FOR HOLYROOD

PARLIAMENT CHIEF PREDICTS 15% BUDGET CUTS FOR HOLYROOD

ONLY MORE NATS MEANS LESS CUTS FOR SCOTLAND

Commenting on the statement from the Chief Executive of the Scottish Parliament, Paul Grice, which says that 15% cuts are a reflection in the overall reduction of the Scottish Budget planned by Westminster, Joe FitzPatrick MSP - a member of the Scottish Parliament's Finance Committee - said:

“We already know that both Labour and the Tories are planning ‘tougher and deeper’ cuts to Scotland’s budget than even Margaret Thatcher imposed, and this reference to a 15% real terms cut to the overall Scottish Government budget is one more piece of evidence which confirms it.

"Instead of the Labour/Tory, Tweedledum/Tweedledee threat to Scottish health, education and police, this reinforces the need to elect SNP champions at the General Election to protect Scotland’s public services, and fight for the cuts to fall where they should – on vast vanity projects such as Trident nuclear weapons and ID cards.

"At this election our message is clear and strong: more nats means less cuts, and less cuts means fair funding for Scotland.”
