SNP WELCOME CANAVAN ENDORSEMENT

SNP WELCOME CANAVAN ENDORSEMENT

FALKIRK CANDIDATE PLEDGES TO LIVE UP TO CANAVAN REPUTATION

The SNP has today welcomed former Labour MP for Falkirk and independent
MSP Dennis Canavan’s endorsement of the SNP's Falkirk candidate John
McNally.

Mr Canavan has today issued a statement saying:

“The MPs’ expenses scandal has sadly brought the UK Parliament into
disrepute. There is a stench of corruption hanging over the House of
Commons and this election gives you, the people, the chance to clean out
the Westminster stables.”

He continues

“I have known John McNally for many years. When I was in Parliament, I had
a good working relationship with him, as a local councillor. John is an
honest man, some-one you can trust. If you elect him as your MP, he will
work hard on your behalf. That is why I think he is worthy of your
support.”

Thanking Mr Canavan for his endorsement SNP candidate for Falkirk Cllr
John McNally said:

“I would like to thank Dennis Canavan for his warm words and best wishes.
This election is a chance for people in Falkirk to clean up Westminster
and I hope, to elect me as their local champion.

“Dennis Canavan always put the people of Falkirk first. That is what I
have always sought to do as a Cllr and will continue to do in Westminster
to live up to the expectations of the people of Falkirk and the standards
set by Dennis Canavan."

SNP MSP for Falkirk West Michael Matheson who succeeded Dennis Canavan at
Holyrood said:

“John McNally is an excellent candidate and with the support of people
across Falkirk will be a strong local and national champion in
Westminster.

"Dennis Canavan was a great representative for this area, but Falkirk has
been let down badly by the current MP and let down by the Westminster
system.

"John McNally works hard for voters in Falkirk as a Councillor and I know
he’ll work hard for Falkirk as a local and national champion at
Westminster.”
