BARE FACED CHEEK and HYPOCRISY FROM LABOUR ON CANCER TIMES

BARE FACED CHEEK and HYPOCRISY FROM LABOUR ON CANCER TIMES

LABOUR’S ATTACK ON NHS STAFF OUTRAGEOUS

SNP MSP Dr Ian McKee – a member of the Scottish Parliament’s Health Committee – has slammed the Labour party for bare faced cheek and hypocrisy after they attacked the Scottish Government when new figures show its target for cancer treatment waiting times has been EXCEEDED.

Mr McKee said the ridiculous comments were fundamentally an attack on NHS for successfully meeting this target.

Between January and March this year, 96.5% of patients started treatment within two months of being referred, according to health service statistics. The target set by the SNP Government is 95% by 2011.

Commenting Dr McKee said:

“This is just outright hypocrisy and bare faced cheek from Jackie Baillie and the Labour party.

“It’s about time the Labour party got itself out of its negative, hypocritical trough and instead praised the staff of our health service for meeting this target.

"In fact my own local board, NHS Lothian, achieved 99.2% - the best record on mainland Scotland.

“If anyone should be humbled by these figures it is the Labour party who failed abysmally to ensure this target was met when they were in power. In fact they never got within 10% of this target.”
