McAVEETY'S "SEXIST AND SLEAZY" REMARKS

McAVEETY'S "SEXIST AND SLEAZY" REMARKS

"MUST CONSIDER POSITION IN PARLIAMENT"

Commenting on Frank McAveety's remarks at the Public Petitions Committee
today which were caught on camera, regarding a female member of the public
attending the hearing, Glasgow SNP MSP Sandra White said:

"I am shocked and disgusted at these remarks.  The fact that they were
uttered by Mr McAveety as the convener of a parliamentary committee which
had been considering extremely important and sensitive issues makes it
even more sickening.

"His stupid comments were at best sexist and sleazy - and at worst sexist,
sleazy and racist.

"Mr McAveety does not speak for Scotland's Parliament, and he does not
speak for Glasgow.  He must consider his position in Parliament."
