LABOUR MP CRITICISES BROWN FOR TRYING TO AVERT TORY GOVERNMENT
LABOUR MP CRITICISES BROWN FOR TRYING TO AVERT TORY GOVERNMENT
LABOUR MPs 'OPENED DOOR TO TORY GOVERNMENT IN SCOTLAND'
SHOWS HOW SCOTS CAN’T TRUST LABOUR TO STOP THE TORIES
SNP Chief Whip Stewart Hosie MP has seized on comments by Labour MP
Tom Harris on his blog where he criticises Gordon Brown for not
relinquishing his office immediately on the Friday after the election
and allowing the Tories to take power.
Mr Hosie said it indicated how Labour could not be trusted to stop the Tories.
Commenting Mr Hosie said:
“This shows Scots can’t trust Labour to stop the Tories.
“Throughout the election campaign Labour candidates were telling Scots
that only they could stop the Tories. However once they were safely
elected in Scotland they were prepared to just let the Tories waltz
back in the door to 10 Downing Street.
“The fact is that the outcome of this UK election was not inevitable.
There was a progressive, anti-Tory alternative on offer but Labour MPs
from Scotland sought the comfort of the back benches.
“Labour have let the people of Scotland down. They promised to protect
Scotland from the Tories - instead they undermined Gordon Brown and
opened the door to a Tory government in Scotland.”
