GLASGOW CANDIDATE DISAPPOINTED WITH DIAGEO DECISION

GLASGOW CANDIDATE DISAPPOINTED WITH DIAGEO DECISION

SNP Candidate for Glasgow North East David Kerr has expressed his
disappointment with the decision of Diageo to close the Port Dundas
distillery with the loss of 200 jobs in the constituency.

Mr Kerr said:

"It is deeply disappointing that despite being presented with a viable
alternative to closing the distillery Diageo have gone ahead regardless.

"The Scottish Government put forward a plan that would have worked for
Port Dundas but it is clear Diageo were not prepared to listen to any
alternative put before them.

"With Diageo's decision 200 members of staff have been let down by a
company they have been extremely loyal too - and one that has made
significant profits from their hard work.

"I along with my MSP colleagues will be doing whatever I can to support
those 200 staff and to work with the Government and Scottish Enterprise to
ensure an economic future for Glasgow North East."
