LEAKED EMAIL REVEALS LIB DEM REFERENDUM PANIC.

LEAKED EMAIL REVEALS LIB DEM REFERENDUM PANIC.

A DISASTROUS END TO A DISASTROUS LIB DEM CONFERENCE.

Commenting on the leaked email from Lib Dem Chief Whip Mike Rumbles ordering Lib Dem MSPs not to discuss a referendum on independence SNP MSP Kenneth Gibson said:

“Tavish Scott and Mike Rumbles are so scared of what their members might say they are trying to stifle free speech.

“This is a desperate attempt by Mike Rumbles to bridge the chasm within the Lib Dems on this issue. This is neither Liberal nor Democratic and caps what has been a disastrous conference for the party.

“The Lib Dem leadership is clearly panicked by the support of several of their MSPs and the majority of their members for a referendum. This email exposes the splits at the heart of the party for all to see.

“Once again Tavish Scott has been shown to be utterly out of touch. Not only is he patronising his members over their "pina colada" conference, he went into the Calman Commission against his members wishes, he opposed the Scottish Government decision on Megrahi against his members wishes and now he is having to quell a growing rebellion in his party over a referendum.

"Instead of trying to shut them up maybe Tavish Scott should listen to the rest of the Lib Dems a bit more.

“I would urge all Lib Dems who support a referendum on Independence to stick to their principles and not be forced into silence by Mr Rumbles.”
