WELCOME FOR SAFER SCOTLAND AS CRIME FALLS TO 30 YEAR LOW

WELCOME FOR SAFER SCOTLAND AS CRIME FALLS TO 30 YEAR LOW
EXTRA POLICE OFFICERS PAYING DIVIDENDS
Commenting on today’s publication of the latest official crime statistics which show that recorded crime in Scotland has fallen to its lowest level in almost 30 years, with a fall of 11% in crime rates across Scotland since the SNP took office, Scottish Parliament Justice Committee Member Nigel Don MSP said:
"These figures are extremely welcome and I am very encouraged that the SNP is delivering on its pledge for a safer Scotland.
"Of course, there is no place for complacency when it comes to tackling crime across Scotland which is why the SNP is delivering 1000 additional police officers across Scotland.
"With more police on our streets, efforts to tackle the link between alcohol and crime, and investment in new prisons, the SNP is delivering a safer Scotland.
"With falling rates of violent crime and of vandalism the efforts of police and communities to tackle offending appear to be paying off and with renewed efforts going into tackling the Mr Bigs of Scotland's crime scene this is good news for communities across Scotland."
