MURPHY ADDS TO LABOUR’S REFERENDUM CONFUSION

MURPHY ADDS TO LABOUR’S REFERENDUM CONFUSION
“’SEA AIR AND PINA COLADAS’ NOW AFFECTING LABOUR IN BRIGHTON
Commenting on Jim Murphy’s comments about an independence referendum this morning where he said Labour would consider a referendum on Scottish independence "at some point in the future", SNP MSP Kenny Gibson, said he had only added to the confusion set running by Iain Gray.
Commenting Mr Gibson said:
“Jim Murphy has only added to Labour’s confusion over an independence referendum. Yesterday people were talking about Iain Gray’s latest shift on a referendum and now Jim Murphy has caught the Wendy Alexander referendum bug.
“They know they can’t stand against the people of Scotland having their say on their constitutional future without being seen as anti-democratic.
“Jim Murphy’s latest intervention is as bizarre as Iain Gray’s. He has failed to realise that by the time of the referendum, economic forecasts predict that Scotland’s economy will be moving out of recession.
“By opposing a referendum next year, Scottish Labour are effectively talking down Scotland’s economy, which is extraordinary.
“Just as the referendum issue overshadowed the Scottish LibDems at their UK conference, the ‘sea air and pina coladas’ are obviously getting the better of Scottish Labour in Brighton.”
