DORNAN CRITICISES LABOUR DECISION TO WIELD RAIL AXE

SILENCE FROM PURCELL IS DEFEANING

Commenting on the news that the UK Labour government is to axe GNER services to Glasgow, SNP Leader of the Opposition Councillor James Dornan said: “Given the many recent comments by Councillor Purcell on the supposed cost of the Glasgow Airport Rail Link why have we not heard the same strident screams of dismay about the proposed GNER cuts by the UK Labour Government?

“Councillor Purcell has received daily coverage for almost two months as he pontificates about the importance of the airport link with its 32 passengers an hour to Glasgow and yet the threatened loss of a real rail service which provides more than a million passenger seats to London from Glasgow brings only silence from Glasgow Labour.

I hope the reality of this UK decision will bring to an end Councillor Purcell’s ridiculous Rip Off Glasgow Campaign and - once the by election is over - he will start to consider the people of Glasgow instead of just the Labour Party.
