SNP CONDEMN BAILLIE'S UNACCEPTABLE ATTACK ON NHS

SNP CONDEMN BAILLIE'S UNACCEPTABLE ATTACK ON NHS

Comments by Labour's failing health spokeswoman Jackie Baillie have been condemned as an irresponsible attack on public confidence in our hospitals by former GP and SNP MSP Dr Ian Mckee.

Dr McKee said:

"Jackie Baillie is well out of her depth on this issue.

"Her irresponsible comments risk undermining public confidence in our hospitals at a time when they are safer than ever.

"Labour should hang their heads in shame. Under Jackie Baillie's Labour government delayed discharges were SEVEN times higher than they are today and there was no control on rates of C.Difficile in our hospitals.

"Under the SNP hospital acquired infections have fallen massively with the latest figures showing the lowest ever number of MRSA cases and a 44% fall in cases of c.difficile. A stark contrast with the seven years of inaction and complacency under Labour that saw death rates from c.difficile rise by 145%.

"There is always more to be done in our hospitals but we will take no lessons from Jackie Baillie, whose party failed to bring down delayed discharge numbers and failed to clean up our hospitals.

"I suggest Ms Baillie learns from the condemnation she received for her hypocritical statements in Parliament last week, drop her ridiculous claims and join the rest of the Parliament in working with the SNP to improve health care rather than making irresponsible and hypocritical allegations."
