SNP HIT OUT AS BROWN HONOURS THATCHER AT DOWNING STREET - AGAIN
DIVIDING LINE BETWEEN TORY AND LABOUR BECOME MORE BLURRED BY THE DAY
SNP Shadow Scotland Office Spokesperson, Angus MacNeil MP, has hit out at the Prime Minister after he posed on the steps of Number 10 Downing Street with Baroness Thatcher for the second time in as many years.
Commenting, Mr MacNeil said:
“First, Ed Miliband said there was no difference between Labour and the Conservatives then Lord Mandelson said he’d work for either. Now meetings between Gordon Brown and Margaret Thatcher are becoming positively commonplace. The dividing line between the two gets more blurred by the day.
“People in Scotland remember the 1980s. We remember how the Labour Party failed to protect Scotland from a London Tory government cutting public spending and creating unemployment. This, despite Labour having a majority of MPs in Scotland during that period.
“Given that both Gordon Brown and Margaret Thatcher support dumping Trident nuclear weapons in Scotland, both support the unfair Council Tax, and both supported the illegal war in Iraq, it’s no wonder they are spending so much time together."
