SEVEN DAYS TO VOTE FOR A LOUDER EAST END VOICE

EAST END PRIORITIES ARE OUR PRIORITIES

Voters in Glasgow North East have seven days to vote for a louder and
stronger voice for Glasgow’s East End said SNP MP for Glasgow East John
Mason.

Mr Mason today joined SNP candidate David Kerr as they campaigned in
Carntyne, along the boundary between the two constituencies.

John Mason’s victory in the 2008 Glasgow East by-election was a “political
earthquake” that saw local residents elect a hard working MP and end
decades of Labour neglect.

Speaking from Carntyne, where the two constituencies meet Mr Mason said:

“Last year voters in Glasgow East voted for an MP who would be on their
side, putting their priorities first.

“Next week voters in Glasgow North East can do the same by voting for
David Kerr and giving Glasgow’s East End an even louder voice in
Westminster and in the city chambers.

“In Glasgow East voters were let down by their MP, with no constituency
office and no one speaking up for their priorites.

“I always put the people of Glasgow East first. They are my priority –
that’s why one of my first acts was to open an office and I know David
Kerr will do just the same for the people of Glasgow North East.

“After 74 years of Labour neglect it’s time for a fresh start in Glasgow
North East.

SNP Candidate David Kerr said:

“My commitment to the people of Glasgow North East is that I will always
put them first. My priorities are their priorities.

“Glasgow’s Labour MPs have voted to close post offices, scrap benefits –
they even voted against giving people in this constituency the chance to
elect an MP three months ago.

“John Mason set a new standard for Glasgow MPs with an accessible
constituency office and a real voice for local people. His election has
made a real difference – when Labour decided to shut schools they didn’t
close a single school in Glasgow East – but shut five in Glasgow North
East where they take voters for granted.

“I will campaign to keep jobs in our banking industry, to stop the UK
Government and the City Council putting up taxes on ordinary working
families and stand up to Glasgow City Council when it tries to shut our
schools and cut our teachers . I will be a strong local voice for Glasgow
North East.

“With two SNP MPs for Glasgow’s East End there will be no way the city
council or the London Labour Government can ignore our stronger, louder
voice.”
