IS NICK CLEGG THE LIBDEM'S APRIL FOOL FOR TODAY?

IS NICK CLEGG THE LIBDEM'S APRIL FOOL FOR TODAY?

The SNP have laughed off Nick Clegg's remarks about the election and questioned if Mr Clegg's astonishing lack of knowledge of the Scottish political scene was an April Fool's joke. As he was paying a flying visit to Scotland’s Capital, the SNP’s Campaign Coordinator Stewart Hosie wondered if he knew where he was considering his conference gaffe last month, referring to Edinburgh’s “mighty shipbuilding industry”.

Commenting Mr Hosie said:

“What a ridiculous claim by the man nobody seems to know - is this the LibDem's April Fool joke?

“The General Election in Scotland is a two-horse race between the SNP and Labour - and the latest poll shows the SNP with almost twice the level of support as the Lib Dems.

”Nick Clegg's predecessors obviously knew a thing or two about Scotland, but Mr Clegg has already embarrassed the Lib Dems north of the Border - with gaffes showing his lack of knowledge and interest.

“His party came 4th in the European elections in Scotland, 4th in the Scottish Parliament elections and almost a quarter of Scotland didn’t even have Libdem candidate at the last council election.

“At the Lib Dem conference in Perth just last month, he bemused his sparse audience by talking about Edinburgh's “mighty shipbuilding industry”!

“Only SNP votes in Scotland can stop the Labour/Tory agenda to cut vital our public services - the SNP are calling for cuts to fall instead on indefensible projects like Trident.

“In the General Election, more votes for the SNP mean More Nats - and More Nats mean Less Cuts.”
