OSBOURNE REJECTED BY SCOTS AS TORIES PLAN SMASH AND GRAB ON SCOTLAND

OSBOURNE REJECTED BY SCOTS AS TORIES PLAN SMASH AND GRAB ON SCOTLAND

SNP ISSUE DOSSIER OF TORY PLANS TO SLASH SCOTTISH SPENDING

ONLY MORE NATS WILL MEAN LESS CUTS

The Tories credibility in Scotland is in tatters after revelations of
secret plans for a smash and grab raid on Scotland’s budget and new
polling evidence showing George Osbourne has no credibility in Scotland
and is not trusted with our economy.

As the Tories smash and grab raid was revealed in the Sunday Post the SNP
published a dossier showing the Tories have long viewed Scotland’s budget
as a key target for their cuts.

The dossier of comments by senior Tories – including David Cameron, Shadow
Scottish secretary David Mundell, Boris Johnson, Dominic Grieve, and
others - shows the Conservatives attitude to Scotland has not changed
since the 1980s.

Whilst the latest Angus Reid poll show Osbourne has less support than the
Governor of the Bank of England and is least trusted by Scots on the
economy receiving his lowest rating across the UK.

Commenting on the Tory cuts proposals SNP MP and Treasury spokesman
Stewart Hosie said:

“Scotland needs champions and nothing shows that more clearly than the
threats by the metropolitan parties to slash Scotland’s budget.

“With both parties gearing up to hit the Scottish budget hard Scotland
needs SNP MPs at the General election to champion our services and to
protect Scotland’s future as it is only more nats that means less cuts
from London.

“George Osbourne’s credibility in Scotland was already at a low – now it
is in tatters. Scotland’s voters will not tolerate Tory cuts and Labour
cuts will be little different.

“It is clear that for years the Tories have been eyeing up Scotland’s
budget. Today the cat is out of the bag and we now know how they plan to
force cuts on Scottish services.

“At a time when Scotland is contributing £40 billion in oil revenues to
keep the UK Treasury afloat these secret plans show the Tories have not
changed their anti-Scottish agenda one bit.

“Last week Alistair Darling admitted cuts would be “tougher and deeper”
than those under Thatcher, this week it appears the Tories are planning
to cut not just Scottish spending but Scotland’s share of spending.

“Scotland’s communities will see no difference between Labour or Tory
cuts. What is needed are more SNP MPs at the General Election because
more nats means less cuts.”
