TORIES EXPOSED AS THE BANKERS’ FRIENDS

TORIES EXPOSED AS THE BANKERS’ FRIENDS

SCOTLAND NEEDS CHAMPIONS TO STOP TORY CUTS AGENDA

Commenting on the revelations in the Daily Record that the Angus Tory candidate has been taking donations from a London banker despite the Scottish Tories claiming all their funding was raised in Scotland Mike Weir, the current SNP MP for Angus, said:

"After the credit crunch and Labour's recession I would have thought that even the Tories would have avoided funding from such sources. It just makes them look like typical machine politicians.

“That they haven't and also claim wrongly that they aren't funded outside Scotland is a blow to not only the Tory's credibility but their honesty and intentions after the election.

"It has already been revealed that they plan a smash and grab raid on Scotland, inflicting the same tougher and deeper cuts planned by Labour, whilst they pretend they are supporting Scotland's public sector.

"Scotland doesn't trust the Tories and their false claims reveal to the voters that they will damage Scotland for their financial backers.

"Every day the Tories make it clearer that what Scotland needs at this election is more SNP champions because only more Nats will mean less cuts.”

"This raises serious questions as to who is funding the Tory campaign in Scotland and why? The local Tories are busy throwing accusations about but it turns out that there is a rather large skeleton rattling in their closet. Not only have they received substantial sums from Flowidea for this election, but they received similar sums in 2005.

"Their claim to have raised all money in Scotland is shown to be utterly false. They need to come clean and say where the huge amounts of money being spent in marginal seats in Scotland is coming from. It is perhaps significant that the first senior Tory to visit Scotland is Lord Ashcroft's representative William Hague. Is he perhaps seeing how the money is being spent?"
