LABOUR’S HYPOCRISY SEES THEM SCORE OWN GOAL ON POLICING.

LABOUR’S HYPOCRISY SEES THEM SCORE OWN GOAL ON POLICING.

Commenting on a Labour attack on the SNP delivering the funding for 1,000 extra police numbers Aberdeen North SNP MSP Brian Adam said that it was an own goal from Labour’s justice spokesperson since Labour promised no extra police officers in their manifesto and their demand for the Glasgow Airport Rail Link to be reinstated was the real threat to funding Scotland’s police forces.

Commenting on Labour’s own goal Mr Adam said:
"These bogus claims from Labour just highlight their hypocrisy. Labour promised not one extra police officer in their manifesto in 2007, whilst it is the SNP that has delivered 1,000 extra police men and women some two years ahead of schedule.
“The facts show that it is the SNP Government which has delivered increased funding for our police forces, with record numbers of police officers in the teeth of Labour’s Westminster spending cuts, and record low recorded crime. The SNP’s draft budget for 2010-11 has also increased funding for Scotland’s police.
“The real threat to Scotland’s budgets is Labour’s insistence that the Glasgow Airport Rail Link be reinstated, which would inevitably mean corresponding spending cuts in Aberdeen and throughout the North East and the rest of Scotland. As an Aberdeen MSP, perhaps Richard Baker can explain this Labour hypocrisy.”
