LEGAL AID FOR DEVINE THE FINAL INSULT TO PUBLIC

LEGAL AID FOR DEVINE THE FINAL INSULT TO PUBLIC

Commenting on the news that Jim Devine and two other Labour MPs who have been charged over the expenses scandal are to be granted legal aid to defend themselves in court, SNP Westminster candidate for Livingston Lis Bardell repeated calls for a General Election.

Ms Bardell said:

"For Jim Devine and his Labour colleagues to have even applied for legal aid, never mind being granted it, is the final insult for the public.

"They are in well paid jobs and the public are sick and tired of politicians like these thinking they are entitled to yet more public cash.

“Jim Devine may not be the Labour candidate here but he was backed by the local Labour party. It's now time for the people of Livingston to have their say and choose someone who will champion the community's interests rather than their own."
