MSP HAILS SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT JOBS CASH BOOST FOR METHIL

MSP HAILS SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT JOBS CASH BOOST FOR METHIL

Tricia Marwick MSP for Central Fife has hailed the news that Fife firm BiFab has received a huge cash boost from the SNP Government to secure 400 jobs in the Methil area.

Bi-Fab were awarded a grant of £2 million from the Scottish Government as part of its Regional Selective Assistance scheme and a £4 commercial loan from Scottish Enterprise, which will help fund a new 12000 sq metre facility at Fife Energy Park.

This is the latest funding from the SNP Government for Fife Energy Park. Last year, the Scottish Government provided £13 million of new funding for Fife Energy Park, which was earmarked to upgrade the quayside and undertake coastal protection works at the site.

This now means the total SNP Government funding for Fife Energy Park in the last year is £15 million.

Mrs Marwick said: “I am absolutely delighted that BiFab is to receive this significant amount of funding from the SNP Government. This award today demonstrates the SNP Government’s commitment to BiFab and the renewable energy sector in Fife.

“BiFab is at the forefront of renewable energy and this award will allow for the expansion of their existing facility at Fife Energy Park. The award has also been given because BiFab will secure 400 jobs in the Methil area, which will be a great boost to the local area and its economy.

“This securing of 400 real, tangible jobs for Methil is just one example of the SNP government supporting employment in Scotland’s communities and stands in sharp contrast with Labour’s shrinking promises on jobs, which get smaller with each passing day.

“As constituency MSP, I have championed Fife Energy Park for many years to have it recognised as a national priority and as a centre for renewable energy. This additional investment shows the Scottish Government shares my views and also that they recognise Fife Energy Park is an asset for the whole of Scotland.”
