ONLY SNP STANDS FOR SCOTLAND AS VOTERS SNUB TORIES.

EMBARRASSMENT AS TORY CANDIDATE PRAISES SNP GOVERNMENT As the Tories start the first day of their conference the SNP revealed opinion poll evidence which shows that they are still not trusted to stand up for Scotland. The SNP also revealed that a prominent Tory candidate has praised the SNP Government’s fishing policy – an issue the Tories have a track record on always letting down the industry. Polling evidence shows that only 6% of people in Scotland think that the Tories ‘stand up for Scotland's interests’ compared to a massive 50% for the SNP, 10% for Labour and 9% for the LibDems. In further embarrassment for the Conservatives their candidate for Banff and Buchan has been revealed as a support of the SNP Government, saying in June 2008: "For the first time in many years I see a government actually fighting for the best interests of Scottish industry and I see a government willing to work and listen to the people at the sharp end of the industry." [Sunday Express 8 June 2008] Commenting SNP MSP Kenneth Gibson said: “These figures are an embarrassment for the Tories on the first day of their conference. Far from not being judged on their past it would appear the Tories are still seen as anti-Scottish by the people of Scotland. “It is all the more embarrassing that with Labour floundering in the polls the Tories cannot even beat them on who stands up for Scotland. “It is also an embarrassment that the supposed star turn for candidates is an enthusiastic endorser of the Scottish Government’s fishing policy. “Perhaps when it is pointed out to him that it was the Tories who took Scotland into the Common Fisheries Policy as they saw the industry as ‘expendable’ he may be less than enthusiastic to support their policy. “Perhaps he may also like to ask David Cameron why he u-turned on the party’s previous opposition to the CFP in 2006? The answer may be interesting.”
