SNP - SUPPORTING SCOTLANDS INTERESTS IN EUROPE.

SNP - SUPPORTING SCOTLANDS INTERESTS IN EUROPE.

OPPOSITION PARTIES FAIL TO PUT SCOTLAND FIRST As nominations closed for the European Elections on June 4th Scotland's First Minister and SNP leader Alex Salmond said a vote for the SNP in this election would give Scotland a strong voice in Europe to protect Scotland’s jobs and support Scottish recovery through the recession. While the SNP is protecting Scottish jobs and supporting our communities the UK parties true colours have been revealed as Labour and the Liberal Democrats failed to see their party in Scotland represented on the ballot paper. Speaking as nominations closed Mr Salmond said; “The SNP is the only party offering a strong voice for Scotland in Europe. “Working together as a country and as a Government we’ve got what it takes to protect Scottish jobs and to work for economic recovery. Only an SNP voice in Europe will put Scotland’s economy and Scotland’s industries at the forefront of European debate and see Scottish issues represented in Europe. “Only yesterday, as a result of SNP interventions the European Parliament confirmed millions of pounds of investment in the North Sea Supergrid, an off shore wind project and carbon capture and storage as part of its commitment to economic recovery, a move that will put Scotland and Scottish jobs at the heart of Europe’s energy future.” Commenting on the failure of UK parties to represent Scotland’s interests and their failure to register under their Scottish names the SNP’s European Campaign Convener Joe FitzPatrick MSP said; “Where the SNP is investing in recovery and working for Scotland and Scottish jobs in Europe Labour and the Tories are cutting Scottish public investment and putting that recovery in danger. “Labour and the Lib Dems have dropped any pretence that they are Scottish parties as these elections force them to reveal their true colours. The failure of Labour and the Lib Dems to see their Scottish names put on the ballot paper exposes their claims to represent Scotland for the window dressing they have always been. “Scotland deserves a strong voice in Europe and it is only a vote to protect Scotland’s jobs and work for recovery with the SNP that will give Scotland a voice in Europe.”
