SNP ANNIVERSARY POLL BOOST.

SNP ANNIVERSARY POLL BOOST.

SNP Depute Leader Nicola Sturgeon has welcomed a poll analysis reported in the Scottish Sunday Express today that the SNP would make significant gains across Scotland at a Westminster election. The figures would see the SNP win 37 seats to 12 seats for Labour.

The analysis was based on the latest YouGov poll published in the Sun which has a Scottish breakdown giving the SNP an 11-point lead for a Westminster election plus a 19-point lead for the European elections.

An Electoral Calculus projection would give the SNP 37 Westminster seats. The UK-wide YouGov poll over 13/14 May questioned 174 people in Scotland with the results as follows:

Westminster:

SNP - 38%
Labour - 27%
Tory - 15%
LibDem - 14%

The Electoral Calculus gives the following Westminster seats analysis:

SNP - 37
Lab - 12
LD - 8
Con – 2

Commenting Nicola Sturgeon said:

“This is an excellent anniversary poll boost for the SNP, as we mark two years in government. We are working hard for the people of Scotland, and the people are with the SNP. The more votes and seats the SNP win in the European and Westminster elections, the stronger Scotland’s voice will be.

"There is no doubt that the House of Commons expenses scandal has done huge damage to the credibility of the Westminster system, and to the London parties. In terms of fairness and full transparency, the Scottish Parliament is light years ahead of Westminster, and that is clearly an underlying factor in these dramatic poll ratings."
