WE’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO BUILD A GREEN ENERGY FUTURE.

WE’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO BUILD A GREEN ENERGY FUTURE.

SCOTLAND’S RENEWABLES POTENTIAL WILL BOOST JOBS

SNP MSP Rob Gibson - a member of the Scottish Parliament's Economy & Energy Committee - has welcomed the opening of the 140-turbine Whitelee wind farm on Eaglesham Moor in East Renfrewshire by the First Minister today as a boost for job creation in Scotland.

The developers - ScottishPower Renewables – has also announced that they have been given permission to add a further 36 turbines to the site.

Commenting on today’s announcement Mr Gibson said:

“This is good news for Scotland’s development as a centre for renewable energy. Not only does it offer the opportunity of combating climate change with clean energy but it offers the opportunity of jobs.

“Today’s opening plus the expansion of the site shows Scotland has what it takes to lead the way in creating jobs in clean, green energy; and it is the SNP which is leading the way on their creation.

“This renewables revolution supports not just our energy needs, but can provide thousands of green jobs across Scotland as this report shows.

“With the right skills, education and investment we can fulfil our potential to be the Saudi Arabia of off shore renewable energy.

“Labour’s nuclear rhetoric will not benefit Scotland’s future.

“Our success in promoting new technology, supporting new ideas and building the infrastructure we need to capitalise on our immense renewable assets is what Scotland needs for a bright future.

“We’ve got what it takes to succeed in Europe and to win a green energy future for Scotland.”
