£100 BILLION FOR WMDs IS £100 BILLION TOO MUCH

JOBS PROTEST TO GREET BROWN AT GLASGOW CONFERENCE

‘CUT TRIDENT, NOT JOBS’ SAYS SNP MSP

£100 BILLION FOR WMDs IS £100 BILLION TOO MUCH

Glasgow SNP MSP Bill Kidd will join a demonstration today (Saturday) at the Scottish Labour party conference to protest at Labour's plans to waste billions on replacing Trident instead of investing the money in real jobs for the people of Scotland.

The demonstration will start between 10am and 11am at the Govan Road end of the Glasgow Science Centre where the party conference will take place.

Commenting, Mr Kidd said:

“It is perverse that Labour will waste billions on Trident instead of using the money to invest in real jobs for the people of Scotland.

"Yet this week it has been confirmed that drastic cuts to the tune of over £400 million are to be forced on Scotland’s frontline services, costing Scotland 4,000 jobs next year alone.

"Labour's love affair with Trident just shows how no-one can trust a word Labour says on protecting jobs or public services. Those members who truly oppose the madness of wasting billions on Trident should ask themselves how much longer they can tolerate their party’s position.

"The Scottish Parliament voted against replacing Trident and the majority of Scottish MPs also rejected replacement, but yet the Labour party refuse to listen.

“Our message in this general election is simple: ‘More Nats, Less Cuts’ will mean a strong block of SNP MPs fighting those cuts and the waste of £100 billion on weapons of mass destruction.”
