NIMROD MP RESPONDS TO RESUE STORY

ANGUS ROBERTSON HAILS RAF KINLOSS PERSONNEL

With BBC reports of an emergency rescue coordinated by a Nimrod MR2 from RAF Kinloss shortly before the aircraft is withdrawn from service, local SNP MP Angus Robertson has praised the service personnel at the Moray base:

“A huge debt of gratitude is owed to the air and ground crew and all staff at RAF Kinloss. The Nimrod MR2 has proven itself to have a life saving capability even in recent days, but is now being taken out of service.

“I am concerned that Search and Rescue operations may now not have the same capabilities until the replacement Nimrod MRA4 aircraft are introduced at RAF Kinloss.

“The Ministry of Defence must introduce the new Nimrods as a priority and ensure the appropriate capabilities are available to Search and Rescue as well as military operations.”
