SNP LAUNCH VIRAL CAMPAIGN AGAINST LABOUR'S THATCHERITE CUTS
SNP LAUNCH VIRAL CAMPAIGN AGAINST LABOUR'S THATCHERITE CUTS
ONLY 'MORE NATS' WILL MEAN 'LESS CUTS'
On the day the Scottish Labour party meets for its conference in Glasgow the SNP have launched a viral campaign image online to highlight Labour's cuts in public services following Alistair Darling's astonishing admission that they would be "deeper and tougher" than those of Margaret Thatcher in the 1980's.
The viral image adapts the notorious image of Gordon Brown warmly welcoming Margaret Thatcher to 10 Downing Street - except in this case the face of Alistair Darling replaces that of Margaret Thatcher. The picture is captioned simply with the words: Brown’s Chancellor says Labour cuts will be “deeper and tougher” than Thatcher’s.
The image will be a fundamental tool in the SNP's election campaign that only by electing More Nats can Scotland now have Less Cuts from the London parties.
Speaking of the campaign image SNP Treasury Spokesman and Westminster Campaign Co-ordinator Stewart Hosie MP said:
"As Labour delegates gather in Glasgow the question every one of them will have to face is why they are supporting cuts that will be "deeper and tougher" than Thatcher’s Tory government?
“Alistair Darling's admission has destroyed any arguments Labour politicians have made about increased spending or defending public services. They are now exposed as just being like the Tories.
"They both agree on the same budget cut for Scotland. A cut of almost £400 million.
"Cuts in Scotland's budget will almost be three times the size as the cuts for the UK. That is not right and the SNP will be making that fact clear to the people of Scotland.
"That more votes means More Nats. And that More Nats means Less Cuts."
