TIME FOR SCOTLAND OFFICE ABOLITION

Responding to a Labour party election briefing given by Jim Murphy in the
Scotland Office's base in Edinburgh SNP MP Stewart Hosie said:

"The latest poll shows the SNP neck and neck with Labour.

"The Scotland Office is a rogue department and this briefing confirms it
must be abolished.

“Holding a Labour party briefing in the Scotland Office’s Edinburgh
outpost is simply wrong.

"That Jim Murphy chose to give a political party briefing instead of
addressing issues like the possible loss of up to 70 jobs through his
government’s discredited energy regime shows the complacent attitude to
public money that has seen Murphy bust his budget and blow £1.4 million on
redecorating his office.

"This kind of behaviour shows why at this election voters are looking not
to elect another typical politician but to elect a local champion.

"It’s time to scrap the Scotland Office and invest the money in Scotland’s
people instead of Labour propaganda."
