YET MORE REVELATIONS ROCK EAST LOTHIAN LABOUR

YET MORE REVELATIONS ROCK EAST LOTHIAN LABOUR

ANNE MOFFAT MUST COME CLEAN OVER GOLD-PLATED SAFETY NET

Commenting after the deselected Labour MP for East Lothian, Anne Moffat, revealed that she kept secret a deal that would enable her to receive a pension of about £30,000 a year plus a one-off payment of £32,000 SNP Westminster candidate for the constituency, Andrew Sharp, said:

“Anne Moffat must now be totally transparent about this whole pension deal. It cannot be right that a parliamentarian should seek re-selection and re-election when they already have a deal in place for a £30,000 a year pension on grounds of ill-health. They can't have it both ways. Nothing shows more clearly than these recent revelations the utter contempt Labour have shown for decades to the voters of East Lothian and Scotland.

“The disarray in the Labour party in East Lothian just gets worse and raises more questions about just what sort of operation they have been running for years. This whole debacle will be intensely embarrassing for Iain Gray – the MSP for the seat.

“At a local and national level, Labour has presided over plummeting standards. From cash for peerages to cash for access and now these gold-plated safety nets, London Labour are totally discredited.

“Instead of MPs who put themselves first, the people of East Lothian deserve an MP who puts their interests first.

"Only the SNP are offering the people of East Lothian a candidate who will champion local priorities, not their own priorities.”
