LABOUR REVEAL AN EMPTY HAND FOR GENERAL ELECTION

LABOUR REVEAL AN EMPTY HAND FOR GENERAL ELECTION

WESTMINSTER MPS TO CONTEST SEATS ON DEVOLVED POLICY PLATFORM

The SNP have warned Labour it will not be able to escape responsibility
for the recession and the threat of cuts in the forthcoming election by
focussing on devolved policy areas.

The warning comes after the Times newspaper reports that the party will
base their General Election campaign around specific devolved issues – but
not health or education.

SNP Westminster Leader Angus Robertson said:

“Labour’s approach shows they have nothing to offer the people of Scotland.

“Scotland’s voters know that at this election they have the chance to
shock the Westminster machine. Instead of electing just another Labour
politician, they can elect a local SNP champion who will stand up for
them, their community and for Scotland at Westminster.

“More and more people are realising that more nats at Westminster mean
less cuts and Labour cannot run from their record of slashing Scotland’s
budget whilst damaging the public’s pensions and presiding over the
Westminster expenses scandal.

“It also underlines precisely why the SNP must be involved in the Leaders
Debates. If Labour politicians are going to focus on devolved issues, it
is only right representatives of the party of Government in the Scottish
Parliament have the opportunity to discuss our record of deliver in
Scotland.”
